Kingston’s Water Woes
Here is a an interesting video talking about our water problems.
Here’s the link to part 2 of the video on facebook.
I think Mr. Lyn is right…we don’t seem to care too much. Are we just used to the struggle and “cyan bodda” anymore?
Also check out this hilarious post from www.thingsjamaicanslove.com, “Seven Sure Signs that Jamaica is Suffering from a Severe Drought”.
Seems other parts of the island aren’t having any water problems at all..is that right?

I remember Kingston having water problems during my youth; that’s 40+ yrs. ago. Both political parties have talked about improving water storage & its supply but neither has done much about both. They both balked at the cost. Jamaica’s politicians never make plans for the long term. Being penny wise & pound foolish has gotten us in the predicament we are as a nation today. The sooner voters realize that our politicians are like dinosaurs ( outdated & out of touch ) & do something about it, we’ll continue down the path of destruction.
Great! That’s what we need more of!
Yes I do plan to get involved.
Some good suggestions here. I agree with them all. So, hopefully you plan to get involved somehow? We certainly need some good leaders.
Karin: We don’t hold them accountable because we see them as being above us, better than us and more important that us. Heck we refer to then as “Bigger Heads”. From the get go we have put them on a pedestal and our lives at their mercy. This mentality has to stop. They are no more important than you and I. Come on. Rampant corruption and all we do is going with our daily lives as if this is normal.
A simple question a citizen of any country should ask is. Why they the politicians live better lives than me? Why, why, why. This question must be ask at all times. If you mr. politician proper medical care, food, shelter, clean water etc, so should I. Your life is no more valuable than the citizens of your country. Without these citizens where would you be?
Suggestions:
As you say peaceful protesting. A clear message needs to be sent that they are put in a “Job” not so called power to “serve” Jamaica and its people.
It would be nice to have an investigative agency to monitor their dealings, dem need some policing.
Mobilize the young people. Send information out on the web etc. Get them involved in government not just when voting time come around. We clearly have no clue of how our system is ran. Every citizen must overstand this.
Music is a powerful medium to get things across to our people. Its a shame the state its in now.
KNS: Agree with you that we rarely hold the politicians accountable for anything. But why is that? And what can we do about it? I’ve often said we need way more “peaceful protesting” to go on here…we certainly need to try something. Suggestions?
Jamaicans are used to the struggle yes. However the reality is these politicians from JLP to PNP dont give a crap about Jamaica and its people. Yes we Jamaicans are idiots and non patriotic. We should be out in the streets demanding basic human rights.
No politician is held accountable for anything. They are the biggest bunch of criminals in JA. Why is it acceptable for them to send their kids to school while many Jamaicans struggle to do the same. Why is it acceptable. What makes their life more important than mine? I have never seen a poor politician. Di whole a dem can go to hell.
