Steve Wilson & Christopher Edmonds Launch Brand New Machine Records

Jamaican Electronic Lifestyle Label Debuts With Redselecter’s “Dig A Deep Hole”
Industry veterans Steve Wilson and Christopher Edmonds (also known as Redselecter) have joined forces to launch Brand New Machine (BNM) Records.

Formed as a response to the rising crop of Caribbean artists producing electronic music-house, techno, dubstep, electronica, etc.-that reflect the region’s unique attributes, the label is an extension of Wilson’s global BNM events which have been attended by the likes of Jay-Z, Beyonce, Sean Paul, Selita Ebanks, Mena Suvari, Nas, Diplo, Bob Sinclar, Damian Marley, Solange Knowles, Dallas Austin, Spragga Benz, Congorock and many more. The first single from BNM Records will be Redselecter’s “Dig A Deep Hole,” a pulsating deep house track, which has already received international airplay, set to be released on April 3rd.
“Steve and I combined have decades of experience in the music industry and have noticed a rising trend around the globe but more specifically in Jamaica and across the Caribbean,” said Christopher Edmonds. “Not only have a great deal of the leading international personalities in the electronic scene, like Diplo, Congorock, Bob Sinclar, 12 Planet and Toddla T, been coming to Jamaica to record, local artists have been inserting the regional influence into their own interpretations of electronic production. The result is a cutting edge sound that we hope to bring to the forefront of the global consciousness.”
Edmonds, who also runs Zincbeats, a label/distribution/publishing company that has worked with a selection of the Reggae businesses’ premiere talent including Sean Paul, Jeremy Harding, Steely & Clevie, Rootz Underground, Coppershot, Stone Love and more, recently branched into production as Redselecter after a long career as a house music DJ. “Dig A Deep Hole” is his first official single as an artist and will be the launch release off of the label, followed by upcoming songs featuring Tara Harrison, Sezi, Zia Benjamin and Sean Paul.
“Christopher has been a huge presence behind the scenes for years and is just coming into his own now as an artist,” said Steve Wilson. “We decided to combine his resources with my BNM brand to put out something edgy and worthwhile that will impact the electronic scene.”
Over the next few months, BNM Records will unveil a slew of projects from Redselecter as well as Transdub Massiv, an electronic/dub duo based out of London and San Francisco whose new album “Audio Obeah” will be released shortly, Noah Issa, a young Jamaican dubstep producer and The Housing Project, a Jamaican DJ duo producing progressive/electro house. In addition the label will release a compilation album entitled “Electric Kingston” showcasing local Jamaican electronic producers.
