Black River in St. Elizabeth is Jamaica’s longest navigable river and so named for the dark colour of the water. The water looks black because of the dark colour of the bottom of the river.
The Black River is famous also for being a home to Jamaica’s crocodiles.
Going on a Black River safari is a popular tourist attraction.
